NEW YORK, NY --- Henry and Victor Lambert established the Lambert Trophy to honor their father, August Lambert, in 1936. The Trophy is one of the oldest and most prestigoius in the nation, recognizing supremacy in eastern college football with a panel of voters selecting the annual recipient. The Lambert family contributed the financing while the Metropolitan New York Football Writers provided administrative, marketing, media and polling services for the project. |

With the landscape of college football dramtically changing since the 1930s, three Lambert Cups were created beginning in 1957 with the addition of the College Division Cup which evolved into the Division I-AA (FCS) award in 1982. A Division II Cup was created in 1987 and in 1993 a D-III Cup was established for the smaller college gridiron programs. |

In 1983, the Lambert family withdrew its financial support. The New Jersey Sports & Exposition Authority (NJSEA) supplied the financial sponsorship until 2011 with the Trophy and Cups known as the Lambert Meadowlands Awards. As the surviving original partner, the Metropolitan New York Footbwall Writers became the Custodian/Operator of the Lambert Awards in 2012. The following year, the MNYFW was privatized to inject financial support into the organization and became a Division of American Football Networks, Inc. |

A separate panel of voters, representing voice and print media, conference communications directors as well as NFL college scouts, submit their Top 10 polls for the Lambert FCS Cup weekly during the season, ending with the December poll at the conclusion of the NCAA FCS Playoffsl. The 38 NCAA FCS programs in the 13 states and District of Columbia classified as Eastern College Football are eligible for the Lambert FCS Cup. |

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ --- For the first time in its 60-year history, the Lambert FCS Cup shared by three programs when the 2015 Cup was presented to Dartmouth College, Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania by Dennis Wilson, President of the Metropolitan New York Football Writers on February 25, 2016 at the 80th Annual Eastern Football Awards Banquet held at Met-Life Stadium. |

Finishing with a 9-1 records, Dartmouth and Harvard along with Penn (7-3) not only tied for the IVY League title but were also the top-ranked teams in the Lambert FCS Cup December poll. Richmond followed in fourth place with Fordham, Colgate, James Madison, William & Mary, Duquense and New Hampshire completing the Top 10. |

It was the first time an Ivy League squad was honored with the Lambert FCS Cup though Dartmouth was the 1965 and 1970 recipient of the Lambert Trophy. Princeton won back-to-back Lambert Trophys in 1950-1951 while Cornell was the 1939 recipient. |

Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) teams have dominated the FCS Cup since 1982 when Delaware was named the first recipient and the Blue Hens have claimed eight titles, the most overall. |
